Chicago is home to one of the world’s greatest art collections at The Art Institute of Chicago. Masterpieces by the Old Masters, Rembrandt, Grant Wood, Renoir, and Monet are all located in The Art Institute of Chicago, the nation’s second largest art collection. The museum offers lectures, and workshops daily. The Art Institute is a family friendly place with activities for children including the Kraft Education Center. No trip to Chicago is complete without a stop at The Art Institute of Chicago.

Another place on your list of must see art in Chicago is the Museum of Contemporary Art. This museum offers art exhibits focusing on art that has been created since 1945, exhibits of paintings, sculpture, photography, video, film and more. The museum has a bookstore, a garden overlooking Lake Michigan, and a theater. The Museum of Contemporary Art, also called MCA by locals, hosts the famous Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant, Puck’s.

Depending when you visit Chicago you might have the opportunity to attend the cities annual international art fair. Each year Chicago hosts an event called Art Chicago where artists and collectors showcase current as well as historic works of art including paintings, drawings, photographs, prints, sculpture, video and other mediums.
